Displayed Providers
Displayed Providers determines whose Assessments and Appointments are visible in your widgets.
If you are logged into Mend as a Provider or Provider Admin, the Dashboard display defaults to showing your own Assessments and Appointments.
Any staff or provider user can customize their own Dashboard view by adjusting the Displayed Providers using the following options:
- Select "Add All" to display Assessments and Appointments associated with all providers in your organization.
- Press the add button next to any providers you'd like to add.
- If a provider is selected and you'd like to remove them, press the remove option.
- Select "Remove All" to clear all from display on your Dashboard.
-
Check "Include Unassigned Providers" to see unassigned providers on your Dashboard. Unassigned Provider is the placeholder for appointments and assessments without a designated provider.
Some workflows use the Unassigned Provider to manage intake forms, surveys, or the Transfer Queue.
- Be sure to click "save" once done with your selections.
Another feature you may use in the Displayed Providers module is the "Wait Time" drop-down. If adjusted, this feature will pre-populate an SMS text notification you may send to a patient to alert them to a delay.
Shortcuts
Shortcuts is a tool you may use to quickly jump to commonly used pages.
Kiosk Mode
Kiosk Mode will "lock down" the portal so that a patient may securely complete an assessment or connect with a provider on an office device.
If your organization uses multiple kiosk devices at once, they may be managed remotely from a central office device with Remote Kiosk Mode.
Widgets
Please note: the "Try Beta" toggle in the video above will no longer be available as of December 31, 2025- and all users will see the updated dashboard design.
On the dashboard, widgets are the segments that divide each tool you use. Widgets help you manage your appointments, assessments, and booking processes. Depending on your organization's settings, you may have the option to remove widgets, rearrange them, and customize their settings.
If upon login, you see the "Customize Dashboard" option, , this means you have the ability to add or remove widgets as you see fit. If you'd like to learn how to so this, click here. Otherwise, if you do not see this option, that means your organization set default widgets for you that you are unable to remove or add.
There are nine widgets in total, but some may not be visible due to your organization’s settings. These widgets include Instant Virtual Exam Room, Ad-Hoc Video, Transfer Queue, Pending Requests, Appointment Queue, Current Appointments, Upcoming Appointments, Assessments Awaiting Review, and Outstanding Assessments. You can customize these widgets in many ways.
Please note that if you use calendar view, it is not a widget and has its own page, which you can access from the main menu.
Instant Virtual Exam Room
Instant Virtual Exam Room is a quick scheduler that only requires a few pieces of information: patient, provider, time and date.
To learn more about Instant Virtual Exam Room basics, click here.
Ad-Hoc Video
Ad-Hoc video sessions are immediate, anonymous sessions with restricted functionality.
To learn more about Ad-Hoc session basics, click here.
Managing Widgets
Depending on your organization's settings, you may have the option to remove widgets, rearrange them, and customize their settings.
If your organization did not set widget defaults, you can remove widgets with the “x” and add widgets with the Customize Dashboard option at the top of the screen.
Additionally, regardless of organization settings, you can drag widgets to where you would like them to go with thisoption.
If the widget does not fit in a certain location, you will see a warning message. In some cases, you may just need to minimize the widget with this option before attempting to move again.
Instant Virtual Exam Room and Ad-Hoc Video widgets are half-width by default and cannot be made full-width. Whereas the remaining widgets are full-width by default and may be made half-width as needed. You may put two half-width widgets side-by-side.
In addition to being able to move them around as you like, widgets can also be customized in a few different ways. Before we jump into filtering and customizing columns, it is integral to note the date range filter.
If you are ever not seeing information in the widget, be sure to check your date range to ensure it is accurate. In addition to checking your date range and displayed providers, you will want to confirm that you have the proper filters in place. You can modify your filters by clicking this option here:
The possible filters depend on the widget, but for example with the Appointments Queue, you may filter by provider, appointment type, appointment status, or location. You may always clear your selections as well if needed with the clear option.
Be sure to click “Apply” once you have made any changes.
Lastly, you can use Customize Columns to choose the information you would like to see on each row.
From this pop-up you can select all, clear all, or restore defaults. Once you have selected the details you would like to see, be sure to save your selections. Now in your widgets, the columns you see are those you selected but they are limited by the size of the widget and the size of your screen. Any columns that do not fit on the main row, you can easily access by clicking the “See More” option.
You may also notice that you only see a select few rows in your widget. This is due to the “Results Per Page” option which you may modify by clicking the drop-down arrow. From here, you can choose to see more results in this widget.
You can also now click directly on any patient or provider name from the dashboard widgets to instantly open their full profile page.
Appointment Queue
The Appointment Queue widget is a consolidated view of all appointments, regardless of their status. While it functions similarly to the Current and Upcoming Appointments widgets, you have the option to choose between displaying all three widgets or using the Appointment Queue and switching between tabs to view only Current or Upcoming Appointments.
You can adjust the information listed here by filtering, customizing columns, or modifying the displayed dates.
What scheduling options do I have?
Current Appointments
Current Appointments are any appointments that have been checked in or connected to by a staff member or provider.
Appointments are moved from "Upcoming" to "Current" when they are checked in. Video visits are automatically checked in when a provider or staff member joins the visit, but any appointment type may be checked in manually from the Actions menu.
Appointments highlighted in green means your patient is connected and ready to go!
To quickly rejoin appointments, click the "Join" button from the appointment row.
Drop-down menu options available when you press "Actions" next to appointments on the Dashboard may vary by their status, your user role, or your organization's workflow.
You can adjust the appointments listed here by filtering or modifying the displayed dates.
Upcoming Appointments
Upcoming Appointments, by default, are any appointments scheduled within the next seven days that have not yet been checked in or joined by a staff member or provider.
Appointments are moved from "Upcoming" to "Current" when they are checked in. Video visits are automatically checked in when a provider or staff member joins the visit, but any appointment type may be checked in manually from the Actions menu.
Appointments highlighted in green means your patient is connected and ready to go! To quickly join your appointments, click the "Join" button from the appointment row.
Drop-down menu options available when you press "Actions" next to appointments on the Dashboard may vary by their status, your user role, or your organization's workflow.
You can adjust the appointments listed here by filtering or modifying the displayed dates.
Assessments Awaiting Review
Assessments Awaiting Review are assessments that have been submitted but require review.
Some organizations bypass this step by enabling "Auto-Review" for some or all types of forms.
You can quickly begin the assessment review process by clicking the "Review" option from the assessment row.
Outstanding Assessments
Outstanding Assessments are assessments that have been sent to the assignee, but have not yet been completed.
Forms that require an electronic signature may only be submitted by the person to whom they have been assigned, but some forms will allow providers or staff to contribute responses by pressing "Actions" and "Continue."
You have a few options from the Outstanding Assessments widget:
- If your patient will be completing the form in Kiosk Mode on an office device, you may copy the access code directly from the assessment row.
- You may open an outstanding form by pressing "Open."
- You may cancel an outstanding form by pressing "Cancel."
- You may resend assessment notifications by pressing "Actions" and "Notify Again."
Additionally from the Outstanding Assessments widget, you have the My Outstanding Assessments tab. This section only appears when there is an assessment (Multi-sign) requiring your contribution or electronic signature. You may open and complete the assessment by pressing "Actions" and "Continue."
How do I assign an assessment?
Pending Requests
Pending Requests are where all appointment scheduling, rescheduling or cancellation requests appear for approval. You can see all types of requests with the "All" tab or see individual request types by navigating to the other tabs.
Cancel will list all patient requests to cancel their appointments from which you will have the ability to approve or deny.
Reschedule will list all patient requests to reschedule their appointment from which you will have the ability to approve or deny.
New Appointment will list all patient requests for a new appointment. This section is where all Unapproved Appointments now display. From these new appointment requests, you may approve, deny, modify, book again, or send assessments.

Transfer Queue
Transfer Queue is where you may claim a video visit or transfer a visit to a provider or staff member.

If you manage or provide care in multiple organizations within Mend, you have the option to change which you are viewing without logging out.
You may do this by tapping on your name at the top right corner of the screen, then tapping the name of your organization. If you are permitted to switch organizations, a drop-down list of available organizations will appear for you to select from.
Or, at the bottom left of your screen, you should see a circular icon with your organization's initials.
If you click the circular icon, it will open the "Select Organization" menu, and you may select the organization you'd like to view.
Org Admin Information
Org Admins have the ability to take control of what roles have access to which widgets by default.
Toggling on "Default Dashboard Widgets by Role" and selecting edit next to "Pick Widgets by Role" gives you the ability to select access across every user role in your organization.
Once you've made your selections, make sure to save the changes.
