In order for a provider or staff member to make an outbound phone call from within a video visit using the Dialer, a Nexmo (Vonage) account is required.
What is Nexmo?
Nexmo is a communications solution, now owned by Vonage, that offers API integration of cloud-based voice communication. Mend uses the API credentials from your organization's Nexmo account to integrate outbound calls to mobile and landline phone numbers directly within a Mend video visit.
You can find more information and sign up here: Nexmo Signup
What's the cost?
Mend will not charge your organization to enable the Phone Dialer feature, however each organization is responsible for their actual minute phone usage through their Nexmo (Vonage) account.
Vonage offers pay-per-use pricing for use of their solution.
More information on pricing can be found here: Vonage Voice Pricing
I have a Nexmo (Vonage) account. Now what?
In order to enable the Call User feature in video visits, Mend will need your organization's "API Key" and "API Secret."
When you log in to dashboard.nexmo.com, you should see the API Key and API Secret just under the heading, "Vonage API Dashboard." Just copy these values to your clipboard, provide them to Mend, and we'll do the rest!
If you'd like calls from your organization to display a specific phone number on your call recipients' Caller ID, please also provide us with your organization's "Application ID." To locate this on dashboard.nexmo.com, click "Your applications" in the left-side menu, then click the individual project. As above, copy the "Application ID" value to your clipboard and provide it to Mend.
